Pimax P3C HMDs#
This driver adds support for the Crystal Light, Crystal Super, Dream Air, and Dream Air SE
Setup#
Kernel patches#
A few kernel patches are required. One to mark the display as non-desktop (can also be manually done without a patch on Xorg) and one to make the USB HID always pull the headset so it doesnt continously reinitialize (which causes bugs such as input device issues)
udev rules#
To allow Monado access to the Pimax HID, we have to make udev rules. Run this script as your regular user, not root.
export udev_group=$(groups | tr ' ' '\n' | grep -E "$(whoami)"'|wheel|sudo|adm|admin|video|plugdev' | head -n 1)
bash -c 'sudo tee "/etc/udev/rules.d/99-pimax-p3c.rules" > /dev/null <<EOF
SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTR{idVendor}=="34a4", MODE="0660", GROUP="${udev_group}"
KERNEL=="hidraw*", ATTRS{idVendor}=="34a4", MODE="0660", GROUP="${udev_group}"
SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTR{idVendor}=="2104", MODE="0660", GROUP="${udev_group}"
KERNEL=="hidraw*", ATTRS{idVendor}=="2104", MODE="0660", GROUP="${udev_group}"
EOF'
sudo udevadm control --reload && sudo udevadm triggerDevice and controller configs#
The Device and controller configs have been extracted directly from Pimax Play. the configs are available here:
Monado#
Use Monado from the branch pimax-p3c from the repository https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/ultradev/monado.
Make sure to use the lighthouse driver steamvr_lh.
At this point, you should have a working headset.
